Classes And Structure
After years of working with many esteemed syllabi and not finding one that we completely agree with, Bethany and James have been developing
Dance 4 Life.
Dance 4 Life is still in its infancy and is continuing to be developed in line with new studies and developmental guidelines in dance literature.
Our Syllabus takes cues from well known syllabi such as ATOD, RAD, The Loral Martyn Dance System and Vaganova, but also takes into account developmental approaches to mental and physical health of children.
To achieve safe dance practise and technique we believe moving students at a pace their body can safely sustain. Dance 4 Life takes into account natural ability, developmental age, and maturity. For this reason there is flexibility within the class structure for students to move at their own pace.
We hope to turn Dance 4 Life into a fully accredited syllabus in the future.
Currently, Bethany and James continue to write and amend ours syllabus to cover, Ballet, Jazz, and Musical Theatre. We aim to expand to other well known dance styles such Tap, Contemporary, Lyrical and Hip Hop.
Bethany and James hope to start to offer all three styles of dance here at Dance@ Mitcham over the next couple of years.
Our aim is to become a nationally recognised Syllabus within 10 years.
Placement in a class higher than their grade level is at the discretion of the Directors, and will only occur if it is deemed the child is physically and emotionally capable.
